José Ángel Duarte Arriaza

Cyber intelligence specialist · Due diligence · Reputational intelligence

A cyber intelligence specialist, security expert and former military officer with over 23 years of experience in intelligence and high-risk environments.

What do I do?

Fragmented signals,
clear intelligence.

I turn digital, media and reputational signals into evidence based intelligence for decision makers operating under pressure.

01

Due diligence & corporate intelligence

Counterparty, partner and deal verification: KYC/AML, adverse media and resolution of listings such as World-Check.

02

Reputational intelligence

What is being said, who amplifies it and how to protect the reputation of a person, company or estate before it escalates.

03

OSINT/HUMINT investigation

Open-source and human-source investigation, digital footprint, relationship mapping and structured reports to decide on solid ground.

Career

From the Royal Guard to strategic intelligence.

A former military officer, he specialized in Security and Defense within His Majesty's Royal Household (Royal Guard). He also served as a Specialist Technician in Telecommunications at Intelligence Regiment No. 1 (Ministry of Defense). He is an Open-Source Intelligence (OSINT) and Imagery Intelligence (IMINT) Analyst.

He holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) and a Postgraduate Diploma in Private Investigation from Antonio de Nebrija University, where he also qualified as a Chief Security Officer (CSO). He led a diplomatic security team at an Embassy for 4 years and served as an Advisor to the Presidency in a National Assembly in Latin America. He was accredited as an advisor on Ecuador's Capital Recovery Law, actively participating in its drafting committees.

He has advised on various political campaigns across Iberoamerica, specializing in retrospective information and political event analysis within the region. He is a recipient of the International Award in Cyber Intelligence from Spain's ANTPJI. He is also a Head Professor of the Applied Cyber Intelligence course, delivered in collaboration with the Complutense University of Madrid. He currently collaborates with several international law firms and provides private consultancy services to private intelligence companies in Latin America.

With over 23 years of experience in the sector, he has contributed to investigations into bank credential theft on the DarkNet and ZeroNet, and has received various international accolades. He has lived for over a decade in various countries across Iberoamerica and Europe.

He has developed proprietary intelligence systems: CIPAS, built on open-source intelligence (OSINT); and STRATEGOS and MARKOS, which incorporate artificial intelligence and have been proven in presidential reputational campaigns. Author of several manuals, he works as a private intelligence consultant for international clients.

He is Director of Cyber Intelligence at Cognexor S.A., an international firm specialized in reputational intelligence, due diligence and compliance. Cognexor combines a powerful proprietary AI engine —able to connect and cross-reference thousands of databases and public records efficiently, in a structured, target-focused way and without the limitations of commercial platforms— with a team of expert consultants, delivering both automated analysis and human judgment to law firms, companies and funds worldwide. He took on the role after three years in Paris, where he led the international security of a private organization.
